The iOS 10 is like a breath of fresh air and is quite different from iOS 9 and iOS 8. There are loads of new features packed in this update and the animations are also entirely different than before. This OS has new applications like Apple music, a home app for HomeKit, renewed widgets, richer notifications and an improved integration of 3D touch.

We feel that iOS 10 is the biggest leap forward for iPhone in years. The team at Queppelin has been using iOS 10 since its first beta version was released and we feel that it is much more than fantastic.  Here is Queppelin’s full review of iOS 10 –

Refreshed design

Ever since the first iPhone came out in 2007, you had to swipe the screen in order to unlock it. In iOS 10 it has been replaced by the “Press to unlock” option. So in order to unlock the screen you just have to press the Home button. In iPhone 7 however, there is an updated home button and you just have to touch it to unlock the screen. The iOS 10 gives you many more options on the lockscreen than before, for example – a swipe from right to left opens the camera App and a swipe from left to right opens your widgets like weather, time to transmit etc. Further, you can also add any App that offers a widget to this screen and thus allow yourself fast access to info, right from the lockscreen. A swipe down from the home screen displays all your notifications, and you require signing in with your touch ID or passcode for taking action on it. The appearance of the widgets and notification has also quite changed as compared to iOS 9. They now appear in light grey semi-transparent bubbles.

Slick animations

In iOS 10 the animations are also different, for example, when you tap on a folder with multiple Apps, it pops up to the centre of the screen as a semi-transparent bubble. The wallpaper in the background blurs while the Apps in the bubble are in complete focus. Once you escape the folder the bubble softly recedes into the space it previously occupied. Thus these new animations make the whole process quite smooth and fun. Some of the Apple’s Apps like for instance the clock App, has new colour palettes and fonts along with some new features. With iOS 10, Apple has brought beautiful bold fonts to its Apps.

3D Touch made more useful

The 3D touch was first introduced on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6S Plus and with it you could take certain actions like for example, a long press on links and images gave you a preview and a long press on App icons displayed a list of quick actions. iOS 10 also has these features but it uses 3D touch to make notifications more useful. So now, when you long press a notification it gives you detailed information. If you have an email notification then on long pressing it you are able to see the first 5-6 lines of the mail along with actions like, Delete, Mark as read, Archive etc. Similarly, a long press on a Whatsapp message notification displays the full message and gives you an option to reply to it without having to open up the App.

Siri gets smarter

Where on one hand companies like Facebook are accessing the users browsing data and incorporating artificial intelligence into everything there on the other hand Apple has found a way to incorporate Siri’s smartness into iOS, without sacrificing on anyone’s privacy. This method is called Differential Privacy which ensures that no individual can be identified by their data. The data is processed on your device instead of cloud, which makes it difficult to hack. With the help of third-party App support Siri can now call an Uber for you. In short, Siri is a lot smarter and is not snooping into your privacy. Siri’s enhanced powers are most prominently visible in iMessage, which now features better typing predictions and even suggests an emoji or GIF based on the conversation which you are having. All these enhanced features have made chatting more fun for the iPhone users.

Removing Apple Apps

Another feature of iOS 10 is that it allows you to uninstall all the pre-installed Apple App’s, which you do not require. So you can replace the unwanted Apps with all the Apps that you like.

HomeKit has its own App and Photo App has new features

HomeKit, which supports many home automation platforms, finally has its own App. So now you can manage all your smart home gadgets at one place, using either control centre or Siri. The Photo App has also benefited from the iOS 10, which now categorizes and organizes photos based on themes, concept and content.

Apart from all the above mentioned updates, a few small updates include more specific read receipts for messages, optional store optimization for when your iPhone is full, unlimited Safari tabs etc.

There is a saying, “The future depends on what you do today” and it clearly fits to my profile. When I joined as an intern at Queppelin, I had no idea how these 2 months of internship can be so helpful towards my career development. When I was selected for this internship, I was so nervous because I had no knowledge about Android and having knowledge of basic Java was not sufficient enough. But one thing that I knew for sure was that these 2 months are like a golden opportunity to me and I have to extract the best of it. With the supporting and enthusiastic environment and the constant support provided by the mentor and the seniors, within no time I became very comfortable in Android app development. The step by step assignment of modules helped me understand the very basics of Android. Building an app with so many features straight from the scratch for such a renowned firm and completing it in time and now being live on Google Playstore wasn’t the thing I was expecting of but yes, it happened. The  app on which I was working touched almost all of my coding concepts that I learned in my academic life. Further the interactions with the client and the seniors were so healthy and nourishing to realise my weak points and understand the requirements of the project and the appreciations were like a trophy to me. Also, this internship project helped me a lot in my campus interview because of which I was able to bag such a decent placement.

The whole journey at Queppelin was a full package deal of fun and learning with the motivational drives and constant guidance from the seniors along with the birthday bashes and weekend movies and the after work cricket games. These 2 months were practically my first professional experience and having such a healthy and encouraging atmosphere, one can’t expect more to come. Thanks Queppelin for making this journey so memorable and a worth!

When I was selected for internship at Queppelin I was worried about my role there. Android Application Development was a big hurdle for me. I was not sure if I could be at my best. But, the whole Queppelin staff was very supportive from the beginning. The work environment, the support and the enthusiasm from seniors were outstanding and made the work even more interesting. My regular interaction with the staff helped me in learning and implementing my knowledge very fast and within a month I was working on live projects. Queppelin introduced me to android development and it was here I was exposed to the world for the first time. Queppelin helped me to become familiar with the Android Application Development sector and also helped us on values we should carry while working as professionals.

Queppelin is also at its best when it comes to maintaining company ethics. There are outings every second weekend to the best places possible. This keeps the staff motivated and as I was working at Queppelin as an intern, I was also a part of these outing and I personally felt that the whole staff stays like a family and this surely has helped Queppelin to achieve its organizational goals which has benefited to the company and to the employees as well.

Queppelin was blessing in disguise  for me. Until my selection here I had always wanted to get a good internship that would suffice to all my academic requirements as well as help me in my upcoming college placements, but little did I know that along with all these things Queppelin had a lot more to serve in its platter. Queppelin offered a great environment not just to work but also to learn. The people here are just so awesome and cooperative right from the bhaiya who used to serve us tea to my co-interns and my seniors which I can affirmatively say on a personal level. I had an accident just a day before my joining In Queppelin where I broke my collar bone and thus was unable to even start my internship on the due date. When I finally joined (still with a plaster on :P) everybody was so helpful and supportive that all my inhibitions and in confidence on joining late faded away on the same day.

Throughout my internship tenure I was made at ease at the work place, was guided patiently with my assigned work and finally our team came up with a live running app. I express my heartiest gratitude to Queppelin for their compassion, support and an enriching experience.

We are excited to see an amazing user response on our first of its kind Hindi search engine app: Raftaar which we have developed for our client Indicus Netlabs.

Hindi speaking masses, which is about 50% of the total population of India, are turning to the virtual platform and want to consume more Hindi content on the go whenever they want. Then there is a huge diaspora which remains a Hindi loyalist. Raftaar and Queppelin aim to target this audience with the app.

The sheer magnitude of a nation’s local language speaking population is overwhelming as shown by China’s internet usage. Makes us ask “Is Hindi the new Chinese”? And this might just be the tipping point of an internet boom in India. Language has always been a big impediment and most of the Hindi speakers could not use the internet which was largely in English.

“It happens for a reason”–a phrase well heard but I partially used to believe it. When i was selected for Queppelin, I never knew the journey would be  so memorable. It started with a bang with ANDROID MOBILE APPLICATION- 3 words which shook me when i first heard them. I thought i’d end up doing something really out of reach. But the work environment, the support and the enthusiasm from seniors were outstanding and made the work even more interesting. The constant help from time-to time, the co-operation and the congenial atmosphere added great values to this learning experience. Out of work experiences were My surprise Birthday celebration and the Movie outing; they are simply unforgettable. What more can be said here, I can only add that Queppelin is a place where you can learn and implement, learn more and get wiser. My “Blood-Donor Android Mobile App” helped me a lot for my placement. And now that I’m well placed, i can very well say had it not been this way, i cannot figure out a better way possible. I’ve made good friends here, got to know so many people. Looking down the road, i can only say, i feel “Nostalgic”. Thanks Queppelin for the great Learning experience. These two months will be cherished forever! 🙂
